Independent watchmaker Rexhep Rexhepi introduces his first flyback chronograph, the RRCHF (Rexhep Rexhepi Chronograph Flyback), a manually wound timepiece developed around a new calibre conceived to combine technical innovation with a restrained and legible display.
The project was guided by the objective of achieving reduced thickness, which led to the adoption of an integrated chronograph architecture rather than a modular construction.
This approach allows the watch to maintain a total thickness of 9.7 mm with a diameter of 38.8 mm, placing it among the slimmest manually wound chronographs with a fully in-house movement.
The RRCHF is available in two versions, produced in platinum or 5N rose gold, both sharing the same case architecture composed of 52 components.
The design is inspired by mid-century watchmaking, with a double-stepped bezel and sharply bevelled lugs and pushers.
The screw-down caseback is indexed to ensure precise vertical alignment with the case. Water resistance is rated to 30 metres / 100 feet, and sapphire crystals are fitted on both sides.
At its core is a hand-wound calibre comprising 320 components and 30 jewels, operating at a frequency of 21,600 vibrations per hour (3 Hz) and delivering a power reserve of approximately 72 hours.
The movement incorporates a flyback chronograph with an instantaneous jumping-minute counter at 4 o’clock, governed by a column wheel and lateral clutch.
Its asymmetrical architecture is designed to balance mechanical efficiency with visual coherence, while the sapphire caseback reveals primarily the chronograph mechanism.
The dial layout draws on the sector-based design language of the Chronomètre Contemporain while referencing vintage pocket-watch chronographs.
Hours and minutes are shown in a sub-dial at 12 o’clock, accompanied by small seconds at 8 o’clock, while the central chronograph seconds hand spans the full diameter of the dial.
The platinum version is fitted with a stormy blue Grand Feu enamel dial made in-house, while the 5N rose gold model features a black Grand Feu enamel dial. In both cases, smoked sapphire counters provide a partial view of the movement beneath.
The hands are crafted in polished steel with a rounded profile. The chronograph indications are differentiated by heat-treated elements: in the platinum version, these are tempered to a straw-yellow hue, while in the rose gold model they take on a coppery tone.
The movement finishing reflects traditional high-end standards, including Côtes de Genève, hand-executed anglage with inward angles, black polishing, circular graining and hand engraving, all visible through the caseback.
Each version is paired with a nubuck calfskin strap produced in-house, in light grey for the platinum model and taupe for the rose gold version, both featuring a Norwegian centre stitch.
