Body shimmer might not seem like the most pressing or practical beauty product to buy for summer, but hear me out. What if the body shimmer was soft, subtle, and finely milled, so it made your skin look like it was set in an eternal golden hour? What if it were based in a blend of botanical oils that could smooth, moisturize, and soften your limbs? And what if it had a warm, sweet scent akin to sun-kissed skin?
That, dear reader, is exactly the kind of body shimmer I’m talking about. It’s not the clumpy, goopy, glittery stuff of yesteryear (millennials will surely remember the exact blue-raspberry-scented one I have in mind). *This* is the 2026 version. It’s mature, elevated, and sophisticated, and I can’t stop using it. Ahead, learn why I think it should be the one new beauty product you introduce into your routine.
Phlur Beach Skin Shimmering Body Oil
The Scent

This shimmering body oil has the same scent as Phlur’s wildly popular Beach Skin Hair & Body Mist ($39), which is a solar fragrance. Solar fragrances evoke the warmth of the sun, and Beach Skin does it via a slew of fresh, tropical, and sophisticated notes—think bergamot, salted tiare flower, coconut milk, and sandalwood. While I would definitely classify it as a vacation scent, it’s not kitschy or immature, nor does it smell like straight-up sunscreen the way others do. It’s creamy, airy, warm, and most of all, expensive-smelling. An ideal summer scent.
The Shimmer
Scent aside, its finely milled shimmer is stunning. The tiny gold flecks spread evenly across the skin and reflect light in the prettiest, most radiant way. Whenever I use it, it looks like I have a golden-hour filter on my skin.
I also love that it moisturizes, smooths, and plumps my skin thanks to ceramide-rich floral oils that mimic the natural lipids found in the skin. Both instantly and over time, these oils help strengthen the skin barrier, plump fine lines, and smooth dry texture. I’ve only been using it since the beginning of June, and I’ve already made a dent in it. I can tell it’s going to be gone by the time summer ends.

For a shimmer-less body oil, I can’t recommend Phlur’s Vanilla Skin enough. It’s just as silky and moisturizing, and has the same scent as the Vanilla Skin Hair & Body Mist ($26). It’s a smooth, warm gourmand fragrance with notes of sugar crystals, cashmere wood, and vanilla. It’s so good, it won a 2026 Who What Wear 100 Beauty Award in the bodycare category.

I love honey perfumes, and this one is no different. The warm floral elixir is luminous and sun-kissed with notes of mandarin, manuka honey, and vanilla bean.

Island Swim captures “salty skin and sunlit waves” with notes of calamansi (a citrus fruit that’s a hybrid of a kumquat and mandarin), plumeria (AKA frangipani flower), coconut, amber, and sandalwood. It’s equally warm and refreshing.

Meanwhile, Paradise Nectar evokes a seaside garden bursting with lush leaves and fruits. It combines juicy notes of black currant, mandarin, lotus flower, and patchouli.

If you want to try all of Phlur’s fragrances before committing to a full-size version, I recommend the Fragrance Sampler Set. It includes eight Phlur fragrance samples: Rose Whip, Cherry Stem, Missing Person, Afterglow, Vanilla Skin, Father Figure, Honey Moon, and Golden Rule.
