New stock updates page on the shop site

This is a small, functional message, accompanied by a frankly knee-melting portrait of Manish.

We’ve introduced a page on the Permanent Style shop called ‘Stock Updates’. You can find it – along with other useful links – at the footer of the website. The idea is to update it every time a delivery is late, to save people asking about it in the comments or emailing the support team.

We will add an update to that page every time a delivery slips into the month after the one anticipated. The seasonal articles – ‘Spring/Summer on the PS Shop’ for example – list everything that is coming in by month. When the launch is expected later than that month, it will be added to the stock update page, but not otherwise.

The seasonal articles are also linked to on the Stock Updates page, so you can find those easily.

We will endeavour to keep this up to date throughout the year, removing products when they have been launched. Hopefully it will save everyone time, and go one step further towards making the PS shop particularly convenient.

By the way, a reader mentioned recently that all the things on the PS shop seem to sell out quickly. That’s certainly the case for some things – the chinos, shorts, madras – but usually it’s products that are new, and so we can’t quite anticipate the demand. Or it’s the T-shirts, which we just can’t make enough of.

A lot of the standard PS pieces are actually in stock consistently now. For summer, for example, there is still good stock of the Finest Polo, Cotton Crewneck, Linen Overshirt and Friday Polo. These are our summer standards and we now try to have them available all throughout the summer.

We buy winter outerwear, usually made by Private White, even more throughout the year. We just got restocks of Wool Walkers, Wax Walkers and Bridge Coats, because they seem to sell all year long, unlike most of the summer pieces.

Manish, as I’m sure you will have spotted, is wearing the Linen Overshirt in dark olive, which he took to Pitti this year.

It’s a size large, and he’s wearing it with a pair of vintage US Army chinos he picked up in Japan recently, with Alden tassel loafers and a vintage Polo tote, also bought in Japan. He bought a lot in Japan.

Interestingly, I find that colour combination of dark olive and beige looks good on me and Lucas, but absolutely kills on Manish with his darker colouring. One for those who ask for more discussion of that.

And, he’s wearing it with absolutely nothing underneath. Be still my beating heart.
