Limited to just 200 pieces, this model marks the first time the 417 ES is offered with a flat bezel—replacing its signature fluted design—alongside a date display and a dark brown dial.

The 42 mm x 13.3 mm stainless steel case combines satin-finished and polished surfaces and is fitted with a high-domed sapphire crystal featuring an anti-reflective coating on the inside.

As with other Hanhart pilot’s chronographs, the 417 ES Mocha Flyback Date features the brand’s signature red pusher, originally conceived as a safety measure to prevent pilots from accidentally resetting the chronograph.

Many historic Hanhart calibres were equipped with a flyback function, which could have serious consequences if activated unintentionally, for example during navigation.

The HyCeram bezel combines the advantages of 60% microfine ceramic with modern 3D cross-linked polymers, resulting in a hybrid ceramic that offers both durability and a refined appearance.

The dial ensures excellent legibility thanks to white hands and numerals, all treated with bright Super-LumiNova, standing out clearly against the elegant mocha-brown background.

The date window at 6 o’clock is discreetly integrated into the symmetrical dial layout.

Through the transparent caseback, the hand-wound AMT5100 M calibre is visible.

Produced by Sellita’s Manufacture AMT department, this column-wheel movement operates at 4 Hz (28,800 vibrations per hour) and provides a power reserve of at least 58 hours.

Hanhart regulates the movement to ensure an accuracy of 0 to +8 seconds per day across six positions.

The flyback function allows a new timing sequence to be started instantly with a single press of the reset pusher, without first stopping the chronograph.

The watch is offered on either a dark brown calfskin strap with Alcantara lining or a stainless steel bracelet. The leather option includes a historic “Bund” style lower band, a nod to 1960s and 70s pilot watches.

Originally, these bands protected the pilot’s skin from the copper or brass cases used in early chronographs, which could cause irritation.

Today, the band serves as a historical design element. The quick-change system allows the lower band to be removed easily, transitioning the watch from a vintage military aesthetic to a contemporary look. The lug width is 21 mm.

The Hanhart 417 ES Mocha Flyback Date is priced at €2,690 on a leather strap or €2,890 on a steel bracelet. hanhart.com
