Entirely crafted in platinum, the new Octo Finissimo Ultra Tourbillon ref. 104344 continues the exceptional series of record-breaking ultra-thin watches by Bulgari.
With both case and bracelet executed in the noble metal, the watch asserts an even more exclusive presence.
Distinguished by blue accents and a bracelet combining satin-brushed and polished finishes, the model remains the world’s thinnest flying tourbillon at just 1.85 mm in total thickness. It joins the titanium version that set the tenth world record for thinness in the Octo Finissimo saga and was later recognised at the Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève in 2025.
Presented at Watches and Wonders 2026, this new interpretation retains the 40 mm proportions of the Octo Finissimo Ultra Tourbillon while introducing one of watchmaking’s most demanding materials.
Platinum’s density, purity and particular machining requirements make its use in an ultra-thin construction especially complex, requiring dedicated expertise and tooling.
The case architecture integrates the movement directly into the main structure, a principle that has become central to the Ultra concept.
Rather than stacking calibre and case in the conventional manner, Bulgari uses the caseback as the movement’s mainplate, allowing the extraordinary reduction in height while preserving mechanical integrity.
Powering the watch is the hand-wound BVF 900 flying tourbillon calibre, operating at 28,800 vibrations per hour (4 Hz) and offering a power reserve of approximately 42 hours.
Despite its extreme thinness, the movement remains fully functional and conceived for regular wear.
The skeletonised display receives a distinctive blue treatment for this limited edition, creating a visual contrast against the silvery tone of the platinum surfaces.
Collectors will also note a specially treated mainplate, a steel ratchet wheel, and the bracelet’s alternating satin-brushed and polished finishing, details developed specifically for this series.
Visible on the dial side, the flying tourbillon continues to serve as both regulating organ and focal point, emphasising the technical sophistication of a watch in which every fraction of a millimetre matters.
