Family favourite car brands in trouble: Mazda, Subaru and Nissan hit hard by new emissions laws as shocking first round of results revealed

The federal government has released the results of the first New Vehicle Efficiency Standard (NVES), with several major manufacturers impacted. Of the more than 620,000 vehicles covered by the 2025 performance period, there were more than 1.2 million NVES “liabilities” incurred by brands.
